Sex Object Culture as Empowerment and What's Wrong With It

So, the plan was that as well as keeping people up to date on my progress and sharing something about the experience, I would also talk about things I consider relevant. I wanted to share related news that people might not have caught elsewhere, and sometimes give my thoughts on it. It's a bit daunting. While most people you stop on the street would agree that the causes I'm trying to raise money for are worthy, not everyone buys into the same ideas about what counts as sexual or domestic violence, or which victims we decide to get outraged about. Not everyone is going to like the perspective that, rather than being isolated and regrettable incidents, sexual and domestic violence are things that are born of the society we live in and have a collective responsibility for.

By chance, I'm not starting with a weighty story directly linked to sexual or domestic violence (I just saw this on the news and writing happened). That too, I suspect, may not win me friends. I generally feel it's better to alienate people sooner rather than later, but I'd quite like some of them to sponsor me first. So it is with some trepidation that I post this.
