Date of Walk: 11/09/10
Walk organized by: Manchester Jessies
Start time: 10:30
Start location: Vale Road Car Park, Chadkirk
Walk length: 7.02 miles including journey to start point
Weather conditions: Humid, some heavy showers

On the canal, passing the viaduct
Details:
Another new walking group, and this one seems very nice. Starting from the car park we walked up the lane, passing Chadkirk Chapel and the well. We took a footpath up to join the Cheshire Ring Canal Walk. The canal went along a bridge over the river, alongside a viaduct which carries the railway line. We continued along the canal to Marple, passing Marple Locks, then joined the Macclesfield Canal for a while. We then left the canal towpath, crossed a golf course, passed a farm, went through some woods and then joined the road back past the garden centre to Chadkirk.
There wasn't a long lunch stop on this walk, which I'll have to watch out for as I had a bit of trouble when it got to 2pm or so. Somebody very nicely supplied glucose tablets, which helped. I should probably carry some. We were accompanied by a very small dog, which failed to conform to the stereotype of small dogs being yappy and annoying and was actually quite sweet. After the walk we went to a nice local pub for food, hence the lack of lunch, which was really enjoyable.
Some of the photos came out a bit blurry, but here they are anyway.

Chadkirk Well

On the canal, with a narrowboat passing

Passing a nicely maintained garden

Approaching the aqueduct

Locks

Approaching mooring

Further along, passing mooring

Crossing golf course just after leaving canal
